OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

Background
UNESCO’s revised strategy on Education for Health and Well-being, provides the overarching framework for concerted action by UNESCO and its partners at global, regional, and country levels during 2022-2029. It builds momentum for UNESCO’s work on promoting comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) and safe and inclusive learning environments and place more emphasis on the role of schools and education systems in promoting health and well-being. It also reflects growing understanding of the inter-relationship between education and health, which necessitates a more comprehensive approach to school health and coordinated action across sectors.

UNESCO is implementing the Malawi Our Rights, Our Lives, Our Future (O3) project in collaboration with the Ministry of Education to promote health and well-being among adolescents and young people in Malawi. The purpose of the project is to improve sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes through increased access to high quality, age-appropriate sexuality education and sexual and reproductive health and services. In this regard, UNESCO’s interventions include development/review policy frameworks, advocacy, capacity development of teachers, curriculum development, innovative digital platforms, and evidence generation.

Support the Team Lead to implement all activities related to the Early and Unintended Pregnancy (EUP) campaign including the popularization of the revised Re-admission Policy
