As part of One Shipping, the Maritime Department of the Trading & Shipping Branch is seeking a Demurrage Analyst to support commercial and maritime operations in Athens. Positioned between junior and senior roles, you will manage time‑related financial matters arising from global trading and shipping activities while progressively gaining autonomy in negotiations, reporting, and contractual analysis.

This role contributes directly to optimizing financial outcomes, minimizing exposure, and strengthening commercial performance across the organization.

Context and Environment :



Within the Trading & Shipping branch of TotalEnergies, the Maritime Department plays a central role in managing commercial and maritime operations on an international scale. Activities take place in a dynamic, innovative, and multicultural environment at the heart of the global oil and gas markets.

Demurrage management is strategic for the company’s profitability, aiming to optimize financial outcomes and limit contractual risks inherent to trading and shipping activities. The position focuses on handling financial matters related to vessel laytime during loading and discharging operations.



Your Main Responsibilities

Operational & Analytical Activities

Analyse operational and contractual documentation to prepare accurate laytime calculations and demurrage claims.
Prepare claims, justifications, and supporting documents, escalating complex matters when required.
Negotiation & Stakeholder Engagement

Work in close collaboration with operations teams, traders, middle office, legal teams, and chartering departments.
Reporting & Strategy

Assist Senior analyst & Deputy to Contribute to the development of commercial strategies and financial optimization approaches with traders.
Contractual & Risk Management

Flag recurring discrepancies and contribute ideas to improve contract language.
Scope & Environment

Products: Crude oil, refined products, petrochemicals, LPG.
Vessels: Barges to VLCCs.
Counterparties: Oil majors, trading companies, national oil companies, shipowners, brokers.
Work Environment: Agile, fast‑paced setting that emphasizes autonomy, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Profil du candidat
Required Skills & Experience

Min 2 years of experience in maritime transport, logistics, chartering, oil trading, shipping operations, or maritime law.
Strong understanding of laytime and demurrage principles.
Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple files in a high‑pressure environment.
Proactive, team‑oriented, and capable of taking initiative.
Languages

Fluent in English (spoken and written).
French is an asset.
Soft Skills

Curious, rigorous, reliable, and structured.
Strong negotiation potential and ability to articulate clear arguments.
Comfortable working with diverse stakeholders in multicultural settings.
